"O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice."  [Surah An-Nisa 4:135]

"Put your feet in the right place, then stand firm." [Abraham Lincoln]

Justice is both a core value of democracy, and also a central theme in Islam. This verse from the Holy Qur'an (the Islamic holy text), and quote by Abraham Lincoln pertaining to justice, are two powerful sources of inspiration that guide my journey as an activist.

Both serve as the backbone of my personal philosophy. Everything that is wrong in the world is usually rooted in some form of inequality or injustice. I believe we have a responsibility to fix these wrongs, and a moral obligation to be fair, empathetic and compassionate.

My deep-rooted passion for justice defines my sense of purpose: to work to restore dignity to those who have been wronged; to develop empathy within myself and cultivate it within others; to respond to evil with good, as my faith instructs me; to advocate for the oppressed;  to foster tolerance and mutual respect; to build bridges with diverse faith communities; and to improve the understanding of Islam & Muslims through dialogue and action.

My commitment to justice and plurality is my promise to work tirelessly to make a difference.
